From hymn singing, to anthems, to spirituals, to gospel, and then to the cadence of Black preaching.
What is the relationship between preaching and music in the Black church?
Music is not separate from the preaching.
Music is preparation for the preaching moment.
Music is preaching in song because it should have theology.
But I think that some sermons are saved on the wings of melody.
